CM asks Mahanta to visit flood-hit Sonitpur

GUWAHATI, Sept 10: Following the current wave of flood inundating Chari Dwar and Balipara area of Sonitpur district, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal has directed Water Resources Minister Keshav Mahanta to visit the affected areas to study the damage caused by flood and supervise the relief and rescue operations.  The Chief Minister also directed Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner to expedite the relief and rescue operations and to engage NDRF as well as SDRF to rescue the marooned people. Sonowal also directed the Deputy Commissioner to set up relief camps for the affected people and ensure availability of food items, baby food, medicine, safe drinking water and fodder for animals at the camps.

The Chief Minister also appealed to the public representatives to extend all help and support to the district administration in the relief and rescue operations
