GUWAHATI, July 5: Celebrated singer and composer Zublee Baruah today offered a new and salient contribution to Assamese music with the release of an audio CD ‘mo’ comprising of selected prayers from Sri Sri Madhavdev’s ‘mghosha”, stated a press release.
The CD was formally released at historic Dol Govinda temple in North Guwahati by members of the temple committee. The CD is a humble attempt by Zublee to preserve the age old cultural traditions practiced in every Assamese household and also to introduce the new generation to spiritual teachings of mghosha. The occasion also marks the debut of singer Arshiya Mahanta who has lent her voice to two of the prayers in the CD.
Anchored by Sabyasachi Mahanta, the event was adorned by prayers sung by both Zublee and Arshiya. It is hoped that the audio CD will be able to mark the beginnings of a new chapter in the history of Assamese music.
