23 Elderly Persons Died After Receiving Pfizer Vaccine in Norway

As the entire world gears up for the COVID-19 vaccine, there are reports of loss of lives post receiving their first dose of the vaccine.

In the latest round of report from Norway, as many as 23 elderly people have died shortly after receiving the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

According to foreign media reports, several others have also fallen ill shortly after taking the Pfizer-BioNTech jab, however, there is no confirmation yet if there is a direct correlation.

Meanwhile, a probe has been placed to investigate the deaths of the 23 people and both Pfizer and BioNTech are working with the Norwegian authorities to find out the root cause.

The authorities stated that fever, nausea and diarrhoea as side effects which may have led to the deaths of some frail patients.

According to official numbers, as many as 30,000 people have received the first shot of the Pfizer or Moderna Coronavirus vaccine in the Scandinavian country since December 2020.

In a statement, from the Pfizer said: "Pfizer and BioNTech are aware of reported deaths following the administration of BNT162b2. We are working with NOMA to gather all the relevant information.

Meanwhile in India, the Health Ministry has put down guidelines in lieu of the vaccination drive.

The Guidelines states that:

1. Persons with a history of an allergic reaction to a previous dose of a Covid-19 vaccine (this would mean those who have taken a dose in a country where vaccination has already started);

2. People who show an immediate or delayed onset of an allergic reaction to vaccines or injectable therapies, pharmaceutical products, and food items;

3. Pregnant and lactating women. Since they have not been part of any clinical trial so far, women who are "pregnant or not sure of their pregnancy" and "lactating women" should not receive the vaccine at this time.

The Indian government also stated that vaccination is only for people over the age of 18 years.
