The former test bowler was kidnapped from Sydney's Lower North Shore on the 14th of April. On Wednesday, in a predawn raid in the capital city of Sydney, the four culprits have been detained.

As per police reports, the 50-year old former test bowler was confronted by three armed men at an intersection and was unceremoniously taken into a vehicle. The police said that MacGill reported this incident one week after it occurred as he was concerned about the safety of him and his family.

"To be standing on a street, to be dragged into a car, driven a remote location, physically assaulted, threatened with a firearm, held for a period of time and then dumped, I think you would be pretty worried," said detective Anthony Holton.

NSW Police Superintendent Anthony Holton told the media, "I know it was only an hour that he was held but it would have been a horribly frightful hour to endure." The Superintendent added that Stuart MacGill who knew one of his alleged kidnappers was extremely shaken following the incident. Read more

The police strike force and riot officers after in-depth investigations arrested the four men aged 27, 29, 42, and 46 on Wednesday morning. The police believe that the kidnapping was financially motivated although no amount of ransom was paid.

The filing of criminal charges on the four arrested men is underway and they are expected to appear before the court later on Wednesday.

The former test bowler is yet to give a public statement of this incident.

Former Australian Cricketer Stuart MacGill was hailed for his superior test bowling prowess and played 44 test matches for Australia.
