MUMBAI: Adil Hussain, a highly regarded actor, has been enjoying success after his powerful, sympathetic performance as a father on the verge of losing everything in Nathalia Syam's "Footprints on Water" won him numerous awards, including the most recent one where he won the best actor award at the Ottawa Indian Film Festival in 2023.

The NSD alumnus' early exposure to Assamese folk culture fostered his interest in acting and led him to pursue a career in entertainment.

The thriller "Footprints on Water," directed by Nathalia Syam, centres on an illegal immigrant father in the UK who searches for his missing daughter while attempting to stay off the radar of the police. Adil Hussain, Nimisha Sajayan, Antonio Aakeel, and other actors appear in the movie.

At the Indo-German Film Week 2023, the national award-winning actor previously took home two international honours for his performance in the movie "Footprints on Water and Max Min Meozaki."

Adil Hussain has contributed to a number of Indian independent and mainstream films, as well as films from other countries, such as "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" and "Life of Pi." He was given National Film Awards (Special Jury) for "Hotel Salvation" and "Maj Rati Keteki" at the 2017 National Film Awards.

In May, Adil Hussain won the Best Actor Prize for his performance in Footprints On Water, which had its world premiere at the UK Asian Film Festival.

Tongues on Fire Ltd, a nonprofit organisation, organises the UK Asian Film Festival, formerly the London Asian Film Festival. The movie festival began on May 4 and ran through May 14.

Adil Hussain's critically acclaimed films include Dr Bezbaruah 2, Life of Pi, English Vinglish, and Abyakto.

Shiladitya Bora, an Assamese producer and director, previously won the Best Film Award at the UK Asian Film Festival for his directing debut, Bhagwan Bharose.
