African Union Calls for Lifting Economic Sanctions on Sudan

Addis Ababa: The African Union (AU) on Saturday urged concerned countries to lift all economic sanctions on Sudan in line with its decision to lift the suspension of the participation of Sudan in the AU’s activities. The Peace and Security Council of the 55-member pan-African bloc, in a statement issued on Saturday that followed the council’s meeting on Friday, disclosed its decision to lift the suspension of the participation of Sudan in the AU’s activities, Xinhua reported. It also urged other concerned actors to follow suit. (IANS)
