New Delhi: In a major development, an American company, Airbnb, has decided to ban parties permanently instead of temporarily at homes listed on the site for short-term rentals.
As per reports, the San Francisco-based company believes the ban has worked as the number of parties taking place on its listed properties has come down by 44 percent compared to a year ago.
''More than 6,600 guests were suspended last year for violating the rules,'' Reuters quoted Airbnb as saying.
Notably, the company began curbing the party in 2019 after a shooting incident that occurred during a party at a home in California.
At that time, the company banned the publication of advertising on social media for partying at Airbnb-affiliated places.
As per Airbnb, during the pandemic, the company witnessed a jump in parties as people were choosing to party in rental homes rather than bars and clubs. Following this development, the company temporarily imposed a ban in 2020.
Airbnb is an online website and app from which one can book rooms and properties spread across the world.
In 2019, several people were killed in a shooting at a Halloween party at a home in Orinda, California. This incident prompted the company to take action.
