Bali Working Towards Banning Rental Motorcycles for Tourists

DENPASAR: Due to the rising traffic incidents in the region caused by the irresponsible behaviour of the tourists in the country, the local government has announced their plans to ban renting of two-wheelers for tourists.

Although the exact details about when this law will come to effect have not been announced, this step is expected to have a negative effect on the large number of budget tourists who visit this beautiful location. The Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster made this announcement with the high number of traffic violations committed by the tourists in mind and making the region safe for both locals and tourists alike.

According to the records revealed by the local police, more than 171 foreign nationals were charged with different traffic violations. This number was between late February and early March. Violations included several problems including the usage of fake number plates. Tourists prefer the use of two-wheelers as they can be easily navigated through the narrow roads as well as pass easily through traffic congestions.

According to police records, over 171 foreign nationals violated traffic rules from late February to early March, with some even using fake license plates. The use of motorbikes by tourists is widespread in Bali, as it helps them navigate the island's narrow and scenic alleys, and avoid traffic congestion.

Although many such incidents took place in the past, the recent accident when a Russian tourist driving a two-wheeler in a drunk condition collided with a local driver triggered this new legislation. The Governor also mentioned that the government is working towards the cleaning up of the island and preparing it for the arrival of tourists in a post covid era. This step is being called a step towards bringing order to the beautiful country, especially among tourists.
