London: Britain is going to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's 70 years on the throne with four days of festivities, which will begin with her ceremonial birthday parade on June 2, 2022. Buckingham Palace on Wednesday announced the schedule of public events and community activities to mark the 95-year-old monarch's Platinum Jubilee, which will be celebrated over a special four-day holiday weekend next year.

It is to be mentioned that the Queen is the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, having acceded to the throne on February 6, 1952, when she was 25 years old. The celebration will start with the first full staging of Trooping the Colour, the parade of more than 1,400 soldiers that marks her official birthday, since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the reports, a thanksgiving service will be held at St. Paul's Cathedral to mark her 70 years on the throne. "There will also be a LIVE concert, billed as the Platinum Party at the Palace, which the government says will feature some of the world's biggest entertainment stars," the reports added.

The Queen's reign began with the death of her father, King George VI, on February 6, 1952. She was formally crowned on June 2, 1953.

On Thursday, Buckingham Palace also announced that the Queen will meet in person with US President Joe Biden on June 13 after he attends a G7 summit in Britain. The Queen, who has received her two doses of COVID-19 vaccination, has been holding the vast majority of meetings virtually, including audiences with foreign ambassadors.

As per the sources, it will be her most high-profile official engagement since presiding over the state opening of parliament on May 11, which was her first public appearance since the funeral of her husband Prince Philip, who died on April 9 at the age of 99.
