Dubai Police band plays Indian National Anthem at city’s Diwali celebration; video goes viral

GUWAHATI: The Dubai police band, as part of the city’s Diwali festivities on Thursday, performed the Indian national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ and a video of the performance has gone viral

The event was organized in collaboration with Dubai Tourism and the Indian Consulate in Dubai.

It was celebrated with elaborate fireworks, laser shows, and mesmerizing dance performances to entertain thousands of people who had gathered for the event.

An exclusive show called Haathi’s Garden made its debut in the Dubai event as well.

As the Dubai police band tuned the anthem, the crowd gathered in the arena sang along and cheered as the performance ended.

Indians across the country and from other parts of the world shared their heartfelt thoughts seeing a splendid celebration put up for Diwali.

Diwali, the festival of lights, will be celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm on Sunday. On this day, houses are decorated with lights as well as flowers, accompanied by Goddess Lakshmi's puja.

On the day of Diwali, Goddess Lakshmi, or the goddess of wealth and prosperity, is worshipped. Devotees light diyas at home and also burst firecrackers in celebration. People also exchange gifts, sweets and seek the blessing of elders.

Along with Diwali, people in the eastern part of India including West Bengal and Assam, worship Goddess Kali as well.
