German Finance Minister commits suicide Fearing economic collapse due to Coronavirus Crisis

Germany : In a tragic incident, German Finance Minister Thomas Schaefer committed suicide, reportedly, out of the apprehension that the country’s economy would collapse due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. He was 54. The pandemic badly attacked Germany, along with the rest of the world. Germany Prime Minister Volker Bouffier, on Sunday, informed the media that the Finance Minister suffered from deep worry over the state of the national economy. “We are in shock, we are in disbelief and, above all, we are immensely sad," The Prime Minister said in a recorded statement. Like many other countries in the world, Germany has also imposed nationwide lockdown to check the pandemic which literally created havoc across the world. German officials said that Schaefer’s lifeless body was recovered near a railway track on Saturday. The officials suspected the Minister committed suicide. Is to be noted that German Chancellor Angela Markel tested novel coronavirus positive a few days ago.
