International Human Solidarity Day 2021: Theme, History and Significance

2021 is International Human Solidarity Day. Every year on December 20th, International Human Solidarity Day is commemorated (IHSD).

It's a United Nations designated day that honours "unity in diversity." Examine the theme, history, and significance of this historic day, which commemorates universal unity:

The IHSD aims to promote collaboration in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, which include eradicating poverty. Its goal is to strengthen people's economic, social, and cultural bonds all around the world.

The subject's main focus is on promoting cultural equality and social justice as a means of achieving human and social development (specifically in developing countries). The theme is the same every year.

The IHSD is founded on the belief that everyone should understand the importance of human solidarity.

On December 22, 2005, the United Nations General Assembly designated "solidarity" to be one of the most fundamental pillars of human relationships. To emphasise the importance of solidarity in advancing equality and social justice for people of all cultures across the world, the United Nations voted to declare December 20 as International Human Rights Day.

The United Nations General Assembly created a World Solidarity Fund to tackle global poverty on December 20, 2002. It was added to the UN Development Program's Trust Fund in February 2003.

The IHSD is committed to generating new ideas to address global concerns like poverty, sustainable development, general well-being, and world peace. Its importance arises from the fact that it acts as a reminder to the government to follow through on international pledges and agreements aimed at reducing inequality. The event's purpose is to generate conversation and debate about ways to strengthen human solidarity and tolerance.

The IHSD logo was designed with the notion of a global event in mind. Four people encircle the earth with their arms outstretched. The arms' many colours convey the theme of unity in diversity.
