Jeremy Hunt Aims To Ease Tensions Over Tehran Nuclear Deal
Published on

London: Jeremy Hunt, the UK’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and also one of the two Conservative leadership contenders, said that he was launching a fresh bid aimed to ease tensions in the Gulf due to the Iran nuclear deal, the media reported on Monday. The deal, which involves Iran limiting nuclear activities in return for the easing of economic sanctions, struggled after the US withdrew in 2018. At the meeting, Hunt said he will work with the European partners of the deal - France and Germany - to encourage Iran to stick to its pledges. “The Middle East is already one of the most unstable regions in the world, but if the different parties were armed with nuclear weapons it would represent an existential threat to mankind,” he said in the statement.
