Joe Biden Hosts Biggest-Ever Diwali Celebration in the White House

WASHINGTON: The largest Diwali reception at the White House was organised on Monday. Several Indian Americans from the Biden administration attended this celebration.

Billions of Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists celebrate this Festival of Lights all around the world. Biden praised the Asian American community in the US for making the Diwali festival a lovely part of American culture.

US President Joe Biden expresses his gratitude by saying "During the Diwali celebration at the White House, "Your visit is a privilege for us. This is the first time the White House has ever hosted a Diwali reception of this size. Since there are now more Asian Americans than ever before, we would like to express our gratitude for helping to make the Diwali festival a joyful part of America."

The US president also added, " we are privileged to ignite the diya in the presence of the most diverse cabinet in American history, headed by Kamala Harris, Vice President who is the first South Asian and Black American to hold the position."

Biden praised the remarkable South Asian community in America for its tenacity, hope, and empathetic nature.

"Together, South Asian Americans represent the soul of who we are as a nation, whether they are assisting in the fight against the epidemic, creating an economy that benefits all people, or defending and serving our communities and the nation," said the president.

He added, "As the world rejoices in this gathering of light, "As this town has learned the hard way, there is always danger nearby. Over the course of American history, the painful truth that we have never fully reached the American goal of equality has clashed with that ideal. Diwali serves as a reminder that each of us has the ability to illuminate the world, whether it is here in America or elsewhere, by symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness."

"May everyone who celebrates Diwali have the chance to connect and rejoice, to feel the pride of the neighbourhood, and to keep in mind the strength in the gathering of light," stated Biden. "There will be prayers, dancing, fireworks, and sweets, " wished the president.
