Linda Yaccarino, Appointed as The New Twitter CEO, Confirms Elon Musk

NEW DELHI: Elon Musk named Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter on Friday. Linda is Twitter's first female CEO, and she comes from a non-tech background. Yaccarino will officially take over as Twitter CEO in six weeks, with a primary focus on business operations, while Musk will oversee product design and new technology.

Introducing Linda as the new Twitter CEO Musk wrote, “I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter!

will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology.

Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”

He earlier wrote,” Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!

My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops”

After acquiring Twitter for $44 billion in October of last year, the billionaire Elon Musk earlier revealed that he has sacked more than 80% of Twitter's workers thus far. Musk in an interview also revealed that Twitter now has 1,500 employees now after massive laid off.

But who is Linda Yaccarino?

Yaccarino, who resigned as NBCUniversal's ad sales head earlier this week, led a worldwide staff of around 2,000 individuals, according to the NBCUniversal website.

Yaccarino spent nearly 12 years at NBCUniversal, climbing through the corporate ranks to become chairman of global advertising and partnerships in 2020.

Yaccarino, who graduated from Penn State University in 1985 with a degree in liberal arts and telecommunications, worked in media advertising for approximately 30 years before being chosen as Twitter's CEO.

In 2021, Indian-origin Parag Agarwal was hired as Twitter CEO. He joined Twitter in 2011 while obtaining a Ph.D. in computer science at Stanford University.

According to media sources, after taking over Twitter, SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon fired some of Twitter's senior executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Ned Segal, and legal Affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde.
