Guwahati: One of the most popular tourist and photo attractions of famous Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe, which was placed at the Ladies of Hollywood Gazebo, has been stolen. Notably, the Marilyn Monroe statue was a popular landmark at Hollywood Boulevard.

It was back in 1993 when the gazebo was created and was dedicated in the name of the famous actor. The main motive behind the creation of the gazebo was to pay tribute to the women in films who made a difference coming from different cultures of the world. The gazebo also contains statues of Dolores Del Rio, Dorothy Dandridge, Mae West, and Anna May Wong. However, the main attraction of the gazebo was a small statue of Marilyn Monroe that was placed on top of it and now it is missing from the spot.

The small statue of the popular and most-loved Hollywood actor was an imitation of her iconic pose from the 1955 hit film “The Seven Year Itch.”

The theft took place at around 3 am on Monday. The incident came to light when the Los Angeles Police Department received a phone call from a citizen who complained of spotting someone on top of the gazebo late Sunday night. Accordingly, the police came for an investigation, but the statue was still there. It was only on the following day, the statue got stolen and was nowhere to be seen.

American actress, model, and singer, Marilyn Monroe had become one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950s. She was considered and even now as well, she has retained a special place in the hearts of the audiences. The iconic comic "blonde bombshell" characters that she played have still remained intact in the eyes of her admirers. She had a record of her films earning revenues of over 139 crore Rs by the time she died unexpectedly in 1962.

Even after more than half a century later her death, she continues to be a major popular culture icon.
