Pakistan Alleges Involvement Of India In Explosion Outside Hafiz Saeed's Apartment

ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Pakistan claimed that India was a part of the explosion that occurred in June of last year in front of the Lahore home of Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the Mumbai assault.

Interior Minister of Pakistan, Rana Sanaullah told reporters that there was "proof of India's involvement in the incident that we are bringing before you today."

Sanaullah and Imran Mehmood, the additional inspector general of the Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), spoke at a news conference where they stated, "We have decided to bring our stand before the world.

In June 2021, a bombing near the Johar Town home of Jamaat-ud-Dawa leader Hafiz Saeed resulted in the deaths of three individuals and the injuries of 24 more.

The Foreign Office would bring up the alleged Indian role in the attack before the world, according to Sanaullah, because those responsible for the incident had been apprehended using solid evidence. He asserted that "there is clear evidence that it (India) is directly involved."

Additionally, he claimed that India was aiding the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

According to the CTD director, "We also learned that close to a million dollars in financing for terrorism was done through India to propagate terrorism in Pakistan through multiple channels."

Due to his conviction on charges involving the financing of terrorism, the extreme cleric, 72, has been incarcerated at the Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.

Saeed was allegedly present in the home at the time of the bomb, according to rumours.

The US has a USD 10 million bounty on Saeed, an UN-designated terrorist, and he was sentenced to 36 years in jail on five counts including the financing of terrorism. Additionally, he is also being punished.

The Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which was behind the 2008 Mumbai attack that left 166 people dead, including six Americans, is represented by Saeed-led JuD.

Saeed has been classified as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the US Department of the Treasury. In December 2008, he was named in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1267.
