WASHINGTON: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a joint statement at the White House, responded to a reporter's question regarding the measures the Indian government is willing to take to improve the rights of minorities in the country. He emphasized that India's commitment to democracy runs deep, stating that it is ingrained in the very essence of the nation and its people. He vehemently asserted that discrimination based on caste, creed, or religion has no place in India.

PM Modi drew a parallel between India and the United States, highlighting the shared democratic values that both nations possess. He remarked that democracy is an integral part of the collective spirit and worldview of both countries, passed down by their ancestors and enshrined in their respective constitutions.

The Prime Minister emphasized the successes of India's democratic system, stating that the constitution and the government have proven that democracy can effectively deliver on its promises. He reiterated that in a true democracy, there is no room for any form of discrimination, emphasizing the importance of upholding human values and rights.

"Our constitution and our government have proved that democracy can deliver... there is no place for any discrimination on the basis of caste, creed or religion," he said.

"If there are no human values, human rights... then its not a democracy... when you live in a democracy, there is no doubt or chance of any discrimination...," he added.

PM Modi asserted that India ensures equal access to government schemes and programs for all its citizens, without any bias or discrimination. He emphasized that in India, the principles of "sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas, sabka prayaas" (collective efforts for inclusive growth with the participation of all) are deeply ingrained in the nation's democratic fabric.

With conviction, the Prime Minister concluded that discrimination based on caste, creed, or religion is inconceivable in a democracy like India. He affirmed that the country remains steadfast in its commitment to inclusivity and progress, marching forward on the path of democracy with unwavering faith and determination.
