New Delhi: Miffed over sanctions imposed by several countries of Europe, Russia has removed the flags of Unites States, the United Kingdom and Japan from a Soyuz rocket but kept the Indian Tricolour.
Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, a video was shared by Roscosmos head Dmitry Rogozin showed Russia removing the flags of the US, the UK and Japan on a Soyuz rocket at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
"The launchers at Baikonur decided that without the flags of some countries, our rocket would look more beautiful," he tweeted.
It can be seen in the video that while the Indian flag is mounted on the rocket, the flags of US, Japan, UK are being removed.
Roscosmos is a giant Russian space agency. Just like India's ISRO launches satellites from all over the world with its rocket, so does Roscosmos. Roscosmos was to launch 36 OneWeb Internet satellites on March 4 from its rocket, but it has now refused to do so.
The agency said that it will not launch 36 OneWeb Internet satellites as planned until and unless OneWeb Company meets new demands.
-- The U.K. government sells its stake in the company.
-- OneWeb guarantees that the satellites not be used for military purposes.
OneWeb Internet is a communications satellite company partially owned by the British government. OneWeb intended to launch 36 satellites on a Russian Soyuz rocket on Friday.
Later, Roscosmos issued a statement on Tuesday saying the launch would not take place.
