France: In a gruesome knife attack in a church in Nice city of France, a knife wielding attacker beheaded a woman and killed two others. The attacker was shouting 'Allahu Akbar' and is suspected to be an act of terrorism.

Nice's mayor, Christian Estrosi stated it as terrorism and said it occurred in or near the Notre Dame church in Nice. The mayor also stated that the attacker repeated shouted the phrase 'Allahu Akbar', even after being detained by the police. One of the persons killed in the attack is believed to be the church warden. "The suspected knife attacker was shot by the police before being detained. He is alive and is in hospital", Estrosi stated.

'Enough is enough. Its now time for France to exonerate itself from the peace laws to wipe out Islamo-fascism from our territory", Estrosi stated. He said that the victims were murdered in a 'horrible way'.

Journalists at the scene said that police with automatic weapons put up a security cordon around the church. Ambulances and fire service vehicles were also posted at the site.

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed solidarity over the gruesome attack. Lawmakers in Paris observed a minute's silence in solidarity too. The attack comes at a time when France is still reeling from the beheading incident that occurred earlier in October of middle school teacher Paty by a Chechen origin man. It wasn't immediately clear if this attack is connected to the Paty murder incident.
