David took his last breath at the University of Maryland Medical Centre after being diagnosed with certain health conditions.

The Maryland institution where his pig heart transplant was done informed that David, the first pig heart transplant patient died after 2 months of the breakthrough surgery.

The doctors at the University of Maryland Medical Centre stated that a few days ago the condition of David started to get deteriorated.

The hospital said that he was given compassionate palliative care after they came to know that his recovery is not possible. However, the doctors did not inform about any accurate cause of death.

The son of the patient applauded the hospital authorities for providing the final-ditch trail stating that the entire family hoped it would assist in upcoming efforts to reduce the organ scarcity by performing the pig heart transplant.

Doctors since long had dreamt of using the animal organ to humans and their dreams came true after the brave and noble patient Bennett who fought throughout the process.

Bennett was a handyman from the Hagerstown region of Maryland became the only person selected for the experiment as he had no other choice being disabled and on life support.

Dr. Barley Griffith who performed the groundbreaking experiment expressed his grief over the demise of Bennett who lasted longer with the gene-edited pig heart than earlier xenotransplantation.

It may be mentioned that after the successful pig heart transplantation by the team of US surgeons, a doctor from Assam Dhani Ram Baruah claimed that he is the one to invent the experiment in 1997.

According to the Assam doctor from Hong Kong, China the US surgeons are the successors of his experiment in a clinic located at Guwahati's Sonapur where he had transplanted a heart of a pig in a 32-year-old man.
