The Winter Olympics 2022 is all set to be held with mega sporting events in Beijing of China from Friday 4 February and will be continued till 20 February.

This year Winter Olympics in Beijing will be organized with a total of 109 different events and around 3,000 athletes from 91 countries will be participating in various competitions. 29 athletes will be making their debuts in this year's Winter Olympics.

The motto of Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 is 'Together for a Shared Future.' On Friday the opening ceremony was held for the official beginning of the 24th Winter Games.

The Winter Paralympics will also be hosted in Beijing which will start after the ending of the Winter Olympics from 4 March and will end by 13 March 2022.

As the grand sporting event is scheduled amidst the global covid pandemic, the officials and athletes of the event will be kept under complete safety and no spectator will be allowed.

In all the venues of the Beijing Winter Olympics, artificial snow has been used despite the natural snowfall in the areas of Zhangjiakou. It is reported that 222.8 m litres of water are used to form the fake snow just in the Yanqing region.

In the Beijing Winter Paralympics, there will be 78 different events and a total of 736 athletes competing. Outdoor events will also be organized in nearby cities like Chogli and Yangqing.

The United States has come with a 224-strong team to participate in the mega event which is the largest team while Canada has sent 215 teams and 17 countries have sent only a single athlete that including nations like Ecuador and India.

The event is already facing a lot of criticism and rose in different controversies as environmental groups are protesting for the creation of artificial snow and countries such as India are seen boycotting the events on diplomatic rounds.

The Ministry of External Affairs informed that no official from India will be present in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics 2022. However, a single athlete from India who succeeded skier Arif Khan will be participating in the event.
