SYDNEY: Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch of The UK was known for her kindness and humor. She also appeared in a Marmalade ad when the world knew about the funny side of the Queen as she is seen having a fun time with a bear in the advertisement.
She was also really fond of traveling and because of her love for travel, she was also named "The Million Mile Queen" as she covered 1,032,513 miles in her lifetime and visited more than 117 different countries.
Australia was one of her favorite countries to travel to as she visited Australia 16 times, in one such visit in 1986 she wrote a letter addressed to all the people of the beautiful country of Australia but the catch was that the letter could not be opened until 2085.
The letter is kept guarded inside a hidden glass case in a secure location. The Queen's personal staff is also in dark about the contents of the letter.
Addressed to the Lord Mayor of Sydney, the instruction reads: "On a suitable day to be selected by you in the year 2085 A.D, would you please open this envelope and convey to the citizens of Sydney my message to them."
It is signed as Elizabeth R.
"From her famous first trip to Australia, the only reigning sovereign to ever visit, it was clear Her Majesty held a special place in her heart for Australia," Australia Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said in a statement Friday.
Interestingly enough, In 1999, Australia held a referendum on whether to remove the Queen as head of state, but it was defeated, as reported by CNN.
Sydney Opera House was lit up with a tribute to the Queen on Sunday.
With the death of the longest reigning monarch Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles III has ascended the throne and now will be referred to as King Charles III who will also now serve as the Head of the Commonwealth which comprises 56 countries that are mostly former British colonies.
