New Delhi: In a heartbreaking incident, a drug addict mother used her son's inhaler for smoking drugs like cocaine and heroin, and eventually the negligence led to the death of the young boy.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, the Conventry Crown court stated that the woman identified as Laura Heath prioritized her addiction to drugs over her 7-year-old son named Hakeem Hussain.

On 26 November 2017, Hakeem was found lying outside his house which is in the Nechells area of Birmingham. He was recovered in a near-freezing condition by paramedics at around 07:30 am in the morning.

Two ambulances rushed to the spot as soon as the paramedics saw the boy and they took all necessary measures to save the child but unfortunately, Hakeem died.

The night before his death, Hakeem went outside for fresh air which he often used to do when his asthma attacks hard and his condition gets worsened.

39-year-old, Laura Heath has now gone on trial at Coventry Crown Court with charges of the manslaughter of her own child, who was suffering from asthma.

The drug addict's mother has admitted her crime to child cruelty relating to negligence including exposing the minor to such harmful drugs as heroin and cocaine.

The court was also told how the breathing condition of the young boy was getting worsened with days due to the negligence of his mother.

The mother's friends also alleged that the mother was busy smoking drugs even when her son was ill and suffering just before 24 hours of his death.

Moreover, it was found that there was no sign of asthma medication with Hakeem and his hair samples showed major exposure to cannabis, cocaine and heroine said Prosecutor Mathew Brook.
