About Deputy Commissioner, Darrang: The District of Darrang was created with effect from July'1983 converting the erstwhile Sub-Division of Mangaldai. The name Darrang was derived from the Bodo word Dourang, which means 'Lilabhumi' (Playground) of Gods.
