Online applications are invited from the eligible Advocates as prescribed under Schedule- B of Meghalaya Higher Judicial Service Rules 2015 for filling up in the cadre of District Judge. More details about the recruitment are provided below.

District Judge | Must be a citizen of India; Must be a holder of a degree in Law from a recognized University; Must be practicing as an Advocate in Courts of criminal and civil jurisdiction on the last date fixed for receipt of applications and must have so practiced for a period of not less than 7 (seven) years as on such date as per Annexure-A. Must have a working knowledge of either Khasi or Garo language. |

For candidates applying for the first time through online mode, a one-time registration process is required to enable them to apply against the advertised vacancies/posts. Kindly read the instructions on the web page carefully before applying online.
The competitive examination for appointment of District Judges by direct recruitment shall consist of:
A written examination comprising 3 (three) papers of two hours duration each. Each paper shall carry 100 marks. The syllabus for these papers as prescribed by the High Court is attached in Annexure-B, and the Viva-voce examination shall carry 50 marks.
The candidate from General Category who obtain 60% or more marks and the candidate who obtains 50% or more marks in Reserved Category in the written examination shall be eligible for viva-voce.
Selection of candidates shall be made on the basis of overall merit and suitability.
Application fees for the post of Grade-I Meghalaya Higher Judicial Service are Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One thousand) only for General Candidates and Rs. 700/- (Rupees Seven Hundred) only, in case of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Candidates.

The Meghalaya High Court is the High Court of the state of Meghalaya. It was established in March 2013, after making suitable amendments in the Constitution of India and North-Eastern Areas (Re-organisation) Act of 1971. Earlier, a bench of the Gauhati High Court had jurisdiction over the state of Meghalaya. The seat of the High Court is at Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. The strength of judges for this High Court is 4 permanent judges including the Hon'ble Chief Justice and 3 Hon'ble Judges.
The current Chief Justice is Hon'ble Justice Sanjib Banerjee who took charge on 24 November 2021.
