About Nagaland State AIDS Control Society

The National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), established in 1992, is a division of India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that provides leadership to HIV & AIDS control programme in India through HIV & AIDS Prevention and Control Societies, and is "the nodal organisation for formulation of policy and implementation of programs for prevention and control of HIV & AIDS in India."

Nagaland has an adult prevalence rate of 1.15% (NACO HIV Estimation 2017). It has now been 30 years since the first HIV & AIDS positive case was detected in the year 1990 amongst the IDUs by ICMR. The program is implemented through Nagaland State AIDS Control Society headed by the Project Director.
