Surrogate Mothers: Here's Everything You Need To Know

A surrogate mother is one who carries and delivers the baby of those couples who wants a baby but facing issues for the purpose. In other words, the surrogate mother is regarded as the third party to such parents.

Surrogacy is a method that a couple may choose when they are facing difficulties in having their own baby and when the mother is struggling for pregnancy.

There are so many partners failing for childbirth due to certain biological problems associated with either father or mother. In that case, a surrogate mother is the best choice where a partner can get their own child and have a family by allowing sperm fertilization in the surrogate's egg.

Surrogate mothers are those women who get inseminated with the sperm of the baby's father artificially and after completion of the pregnancy period they hand over the baby to the couple.

A surrogate mother carries the baby inside the belly and helped in the reproduction process until the baby's delivery and is said to be the biological mother of the baby.

Throughout the process of giving birth to the child of a couple, the surrogate mother's egg gets fertilized by the sperm of the intended father.

The surrogacy method is mainly supported with a legal agreement in which the surrogate mother gave her approval for bearing someone else's baby until birth and agrees that after the delivery the said couple will become the parents of the baby.

There are two types of surrogacy that are used to give birth with the help of other women and the types are traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy.

The surrogate mother acts as both embryo carrier and egg donor in the case of traditional surrogacy and in the case of gestational surrogacy, the embryo is first made using the egg of the intended mother and her husband's sperm through a process that is known as Vitro fertilization. After the formation of the embryo, it is then placed in the uterus of the surrogate mother and after that, she will be carrying the child until delivery.

The intended parents are required to pay all the expenses of the surrogate mother throughout her pregnancy and they will have to take proper care of her monthly checks for travel, food and other prenatal care.

A legal contract must be prepared between the surrogate mother and the actual parents regarding the custody of the baby after birth.
