NEW DELHI: chairman of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG), Anil Ambani on Friday resigned as directors of Reliance Power and Reliance Infrastructure.
This comes after Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had barred Anil Ambani from joining any listed company in the stock exchanges.
Notably, in February this year, SEBI had banned Reliance Home Finance Ltd, industrialist Anil Ambani and three others from the securities market for allegedly withdrawing money.
In a press release, Reliance Power said in the information given to the stock exchange that non-executive director Anil D Ambani has stepped down as the director of the company following the interim order of SEBI.
Reliance Infrastructure also told the stock exchange that Anil Ambani has resigned from the company's board of directors "in compliance with SEBI's interim order".
On the other hand, the Board of Directors of R-Power and R-Infra on Friday appointed Rahul Sarin as an additional director for a tenure of five years, both the ADAG group companies said.
However, this appointment is currently subject to the approval of the members in the general meeting.
