New Delhi: As Finance and Bank stocks powered the markets, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex on Monday gained 145.43 points to close at 60,967.05.
Markets also witnessed a sharp gain in banking and financial services stocks which were offset by losses in IT, Auto and consumers shares.
The Nifty of NSE too rose marginally by 10.50 points at 18,125.40. Despite high volatility, breaking four days negative, the Sensex managed to close in green today.
Stocks like Finance and Bankex -- the two major stocks -- lifted the market today. In sectoral indices, Bankex was a major gainer up by 2.30 per cent and Finance by 1.91 per cent.
However, as per the broker, selling in Realty, Consumer Durable, Industrials and Utilities capped from further gains.
The Small Cap declined by 1.76 percent while Mid Cap declined by 1.65 percent.
22 declined while 8 advanced, in 30 scrips.
The indices that fell were Realty by 2.55 per cent a major loser, followed by Consumer Durable by 1.45 per cent, Industrials by 1.36 per cent and Utilities by 1.31 per cent.
