Guwahati: Continuing the saga of driving knowledge enrichment for North East India’s medical professionals, Guwahati-headquartered GNRC Hospitals, in association with Indian Association of Palliative Care, organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on Pain and Palliative Care in Guwahati recently. The event was attended by over 100 specialists in Palliative Care, apart from general practitioners.

Chief guest Dr. Amal Kataki, director of Dr. B Barooah Cancer Institute, in his opening speech, highlighted the importance for Palliative Care in India and North East. Critical care plays a pivotal role in health conditions that are reversible. However, when these measures cease to have the desired effect, they only serve to prolong the process of dying. It is important to recognize this process and the distress associated with it, a press release stated.
