Historic Maibang in dilapidated condition

In July 2019, I went to Maibang, the glorious capital of the erstwhile Dimasa Kachari kingdom during the period of the 16th to 18th century. The ruins of the kingdom can still be found on the eastern bank of Mahur River, south of Maibang and other parts of the Dima Hasao district. Among them, the most popular is 'Stone House' (in Dimasa it is called Longthai ni Noh) stands on the bank of Mahur River in south Maibang.

There are many archaeological ruins of the then kingdom scattered in the different parts of Maibang in very dilapidated conditions. Many canons and other war materials are also scattered at Maibang in a neglected state. It can be turned into a significant tourist place if the government takes proper initiative considering its past glory and importance.

Our future generation will hardly locate it as a glorious place if it is not preserved properly by the authority concerned.

So, I urge the government and authority concerned through your esteemed daily to look into the matter seriously to gift us a finest tourist place and to preserve the past glory of the place.

Great sight

It was rather a great sight to see some of the over-aged so-called leaders of the newly-floated regional political party named AJP on the TV screen. I think the recent impasse arising out of the examination schedule of classes X and XII was a god-sent opportunity for the over-aged former AASU leaders minus Lurinjyoti Gogoi to be in the news once again after being snubbed by the indigenous voters of the State in the last Assembly election. Their next move regarding CAA will be keenly watched by the sons of the soil. Gone are those days when gullible Asomiyas would rally behind these opportunists whose true identities have been fully exposed.

Relaxed curfew timings

It needs no mention about the financial and emotional pain a huge section of the society has to endure because of the restrictions on timings imposed due to the pandemic.

Amidst such a situation, the announcement of the Chief Minister of Assam to relax the curfew timings from 2 pm to 4 pm (barring the seven districts under lockdown) from coming Wednesday is a praiseworthy step, as it will help a huge section of society to overcome their financial trouble. Moreover, it will provide huge respite to the banking customers; especially the employees who couldn't manage time to visit the bank in the morning hours because of their hectic office schedule. However, despite the improving situation, we must not let our guards off against the unknown enemy. As the government is being prudent while taking steps towards making our State shine in the national sphere, we expect that under the dynamic leadership of our Chief Minister issues about vaccine shortage and vaccine hesitancy is addressed at the earliest so that we all get to see happy smiles around us soon.

Praiseworthy initiative

Assam is famous for its vibrant culture, rich traditional values, and diverse faiths of the indigenous people. So creating a new department to look after, preserve, and promote the whole gamut of the culture, traditions, and faiths of indigenous people of Assam is an excellent and praiseworthy initiative from the Government of Assam. Similarly, the announcement of a series of administrative reforms by the Chief Minister by giving more financial authority to the departments will help in faster execution of government projects and schemes, remove red tape, and give a newer momentum to the already fossilized administrative culture. This will give the right track of good governance.

Scotland Yard

Scotland Yard is a name deadly feared by criminals before committing any crime. Due to its efficient officers, the Scotland Yard is still the best police outfit on the globe. Initially, our Mumbai Police under the then police commissioner Riberio was named as the Scotland Yard of the East. But due to tremendous political interferences, gradually the Mumbai Police lost its reputations and the faith of the general people. Interestingly and fortunately, Assam Police of late under the new government and the watchful eyes of the new DGP is proving all its critics wrong by their splendid performance to date. Due to the resurgence of Assam Police, we can sleep peacefully, and the criminals are having sleepless nights. For the rootless Opposition, this sudden change of Assam Police efficacy seems to be a very natural mystery. Now Assam Police, you are the Scotland Yard of the East. We are with you.

Bang on point

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the new IT Minister in the Union Cabinet immediately pressed the right button when he said Law of the land is supreme and all the social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter have to follow them if they are to do business in India. His message is very timely as of late Twitter has been propagating many anti-India tweets regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, Kumbh Mela, etc. Their sole objective is to defame and project India in a very poor light globally. Twitter is used extensively by the anti-India gangs who are working at the behest of some hidden forces trying to destabilize India. It is worth mentioning that recent Cabinet rejigs by PM Modi has inducted young, educated and capable people.
