The long-awaited Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the century-old political party got over on August 24. The crucial meeting chaired by Sonia Gandhi was quite stormy with usual murmuring dissensions generally confined with the walls surfacing in the party's open forum. Some senior leaders namely Kapil Sibal, Ghulam Nabi Azad to name a few voiced their opinions though Rahul Gandhi immediately branded them as cahoots of BJP. For the time being these dissenting voices were miffed by current AICC interim president's son but how long can he suppress only time will tell. Is it not the distant thunder in waiting? Let's wait and see.

Aamir Khan is in Turkey to shoot the remaining portions of his upcoming movie Laal Singh Chaddha and it has brought up some undue and irrelevant controversies. It's pathetic but let's address them.
Why did Aamir Khan choose to shoot in Turkey (A country with Anti-India sentiment)?
-The shooting of battle sequences in Laal Singh Chaddha were originally meant to be shot in Ladakh. But due to the India-China conflict at Galwan Valley, the team of LSC decided to cancel the Ladakh schedule. So they opted for other locations and settled for Turkey and Georgia that were closest to fulfilling their location requirements.
Aamir Khan is a popular figure in Turkey as in any other parts of the world. It's least imaginable that being an A Lister from a foreign country, there would be courtesy meeting arranged between him and the government officials. This is a systematic protocol of a tiny group of so-called nationalists to put down some popular figures (including Aamir Khan) by creating non-existing controversies, spreading hatred in the name of religion and infuriating others to follow suit. These people are nowhere to be found when Aamir Khan's Paani Foundation fights against drought-affected people in Maharashtra. They are nowhere to be found when Aamir Khan makes India proud every time on international stages. Neither is this the first time that this propaganda has been carried out against Aamir Khan and nor will it be the last. It's a request to ignore such hatred-spewing entities. Good riddance.

Once again it has proved that the Congress party revolves around Gandhis. From the drama, orchestrated in CWC meeting held on August 24, it is amply clear that Gandhis don't like to leave the reign of the Congress party, come what may? Sonia is not well and Rahul had resigned from the post of Congress president one year back. Moreover, Rahul has been declaring time and again that no one from Gandhi family would ever hold the post of president. Why then Rahul and Sonia express their anguish against the 23 senior Congress men, who have written a letter with a view to give a new lease of life to the party by reorganizing the same. Sonia has been the interim president for last one year. Why no action has been initiated to select/elect a new leader? Then, what was wrong in suggesting to elect a new full-time leader to lead the party? Two consecutive general elections have been lost. Still the Congress leadership has not yet come to the senses. They are still to understand the basics that 'time is the essence' of everything. The trouble with the Congress is that, they think they have time. It is for sure that, with such attitude and arrogance the Congress party can't inspire the confidence of the voters as well. The Congress is a national party. As such they are bound to have commitment to the people of the country. However, we have not seen such approach with the Congress leadership as yet. Indeed, Gandhis are using the party as their personal fiefdom.
The old guards and Gandhi loyalists are the main impediments in shaping the Congress afresh. They have done disservice to the nation by asking Sonia to continue as interim president of the party for another period of time. The pragmatic decision would have been, if they have asked Gulam Navi Azad, to function as interim president of the party. This would have enhanced the secular credential of the party. Another irritating exercise is that Gandhi loyalists are still insisting Sonia's children to take the reign of the party. By doing so they have been trying to prove themselves as "more loyal than the king". As a citizen I would suggest that the grand old party to elect the president and its CWC members through secret ballot rather than through selection process. The BJP will be benefited immensely for not having a full-time leader in the Congress and not from letters written by so-called dissidents. The people of the country want a strong opposition to counter the BJP. But that is not happening due to lackadaisical attitude of the Congress leadership at the helm. Hope, good senses will prevail.

The recent flood that affected a number of districts of the State still remained unchanged, rather the situation has worsened affecting about 33 lakh people in 27 districts of the State. According to reports, the flood has taken lives of 59 people. As many as 13,46261 big and 6,65,214 small animals have been affected. About 13,84,862 poultry have also been affected till Tuesday evening. The devastating flood submerged 3,371 villages in 92 revenue circles affecting about 33 lakh people.
A number of embankments have also been damaged along with standing crop in 128,495 hectares.
Roads, bridges and culverts along with houses, school buildings have been breached in many places of the State. The Kajiranga National Park (KNP) is also affected by the flood. About 90 to 95 per cent of the National park has been submerged and 67 animals have died and about 100 have been rescued. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sanctioned ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of the kin of persons who lost their lives due to the flood in the State from the PM National Relief Fund. As the condition of the State economy is not very stable due to the pandemic situation for which a large amount of money was required to be spent from the State exchequer, sufficient help to the affected people whose crop, house and domestic animals were damaged by the flood couldn't have been provided as reported by some media. As such all possible help to the State should be given by the Central government to meet the exigency by the State in addition to the ex gratia payment at the time of this natural calamity.

The ongoing pandemic, which has shocked and shut all the sectors, has been putting daily life in a very critical situation. People are losing jobs and spending days without proper food. However, the rules and regulations directed by Assam Health Department are being followed by the common people. Things are quite opposite when it comes to politician or any political parties.
Yesterday, when a section of artistes of Assam were in hurry to join some prominent political parties, they not only forgot to wear masks but also the ideology and the curseful CAA. It was painful to see all the artistes, who once struggled and sang 'Jati, Mati, Bheti' have now sold their souls and tune. They took the blood of our 'shaheed' and Assamese sympathy to fill their ghostly desires. These selfish artistes did not attain any Bihu Manch but have attained Rajneetik Manch. So it is time to stay safe from COVID-19 as well as from some of artistes.

The Central Government establishing a National Council for Transgender Persons is the right move towards social security of this community. The council will advise the government on the formulation of policies, programmes, legislation, and projects with respect to transgender persons. It furthermore will work for the protection of their rights and redressing the grievances. Hope that the council will empower transgenders and they will be able to live a respectable life in society.
