Business or priority

The Tata-owned Tanishq cannot be faulted for withdrawing advertisement being trolled on social media. Of course, nobody can justify the trolls threatening to boycott Tanishq and its mother company Titan for a socially relevant message extolling Hindi-Muslim harmony. But putting business interests and the safety of its employees ahead of a crusading bravado was only to be expected. A business house, even if is the Tata group, cannot be expected to pursue its crusading zeal at the cost of, well business. Safety of its staff in numerous stores across the country was a priority. The ad, depicting a pregnant Hindu bride in a Muslim household being pleasantly surprised at the baby shower organized by a doting mother in law was a clear attempt at social messaging.

Accept stammering

International Stammering Awareness Day (ISAD) is celebrated on October 22 worldwide. The day is designated to bring up public awareness of the issues faced by millions of people – one per cent of the world's population – who stammer. In India too, millions of people are confronting the challenge of stammering. It creates trouble for education, interpersonal relationships, social activities, and finding employment. Our society recognizes that every individual must speak fluently. Stammers are isolated and many times judged incapable of jobs and marriage. Community is giving advice to people who stammer likewise speak slowly, breath repeatedly, and to develop self-confidence. This kind of advice does not assist them and makes their life more complicated. The need of the hour is that people should accept stammering as human diversity and accept it extensively. If you face any people who stammer, listen to him patiently, give time to speak, and do not make any assumptions about it on the basis of stammering. Exclusively equal opportunities and full participation may empower people who stammer in society. At the same time, the people who stammer should frankly accept stammering and talk to more people and remove the fear of stammering.

Water harvesting

It is known that water scarcity has been going in India.

It is a serious matter. The government and scientists are pondering how to overcome this problem. Water harvesting is a good way to conserve water. So the government should take up this process. Particularly, Assam has been experiencing high downpour in the rainy season. It is not a difficult task to conserve water. As such, government should train people to conserve water though water harvesting, initially by providing funds.
