Extension of
'Pink Bus' routes
The 'Pink Bus' initiative launched under the scheme of 'Bhraman Sarathi' is a revolutionary step taken by the Government of Assam. Though these buses have made it easier for women and senior citizens to travel seamlessly, the bus routes are limited to specific places. The buses cover the following routes- Khanapara-Jalukbari via Paltan Bazar, Forest Gate-Jalukbari via Chandmari, Basistha Mandir-Jalukbari via Paltan Bazar, Khanapara-Jalukbari via NH/ISBT and Game Village/Bhetapara-Jalukbari via Paltan Bazar. The women and elderly citizens of Hatigaon, Panjabari and Kahilipara are deprived of the benefits of this scheme. They would benefit a lot if the routes of the 'pink buses' are extended accordingly.
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned to look into the matter and take necessary actions.

COVID-19 surge
The surge in cases is directly attributed to the severe decline in compliance of COVID-appropriate behaviour, pandemic fatigue and the lack of effective implementation of containment measures. An aggressive vaccination drive, testing and tracking techniques will help us combat the second phase.

Propagation is not conversion
According to the judgment delivered on 9.4.21 by a Supreme Court bench headed by Justice RF Nariman, propagation of a faith means conversion to that faith. This interpretation is not correct according to Pocket Oxford Dictionary. According to this dictionary propagation is dissemination of news, ideas etc. Obviously it has nothing to do with conversion. Swami Vivekananda propagated Hinduism in the west, but he converted none to Hinduism. Our constitution seems silent about conversion.

Spike in corona cases
Soon after the conclusion of the election, the State is witnessing sudden spike in COVID-19 cases. This is alarming. In next 5/6 days Bohag Bihu will start and people will throng the bihutolis and there the risk of the virus getting viral is extreme. We have seen during the campaigning phase of the Assembly polls, all the political parties threw the COVID protocols into dustbin. From thousands to lakhs of people gathered in the election rallies. Only God knows what is in store for us. Lack of awareness amongst the public is another worrisome matter. Lastly, we cannot bear another lockdown for that we are ready to celebrate Bihu in a low profile way. After a long year gap schools were opening but with the current situation we fear another break in educational institutions.

Second wave of coronavirus
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to bring the attention of the authority concerned towards the spreading rate of coronavirus positive in the State along with the country. It is spreading at a rapid pace. Many districts have already imposed different laws to control its growth. So I would like request the citizens to wear masks and use sanitizers for their safety.
