Timely reporting
Your esteemed daily reporter deserves all the kudos for reporting the problems faced by the indigenous population of the State in availing all the government welfare schemes. The people living in sar areas are equipped with all the necessary documents like PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar card, ration card that enable them to reap the benefits of the various government schemes. These people get aid from various NGOs and other religious bodies. In this regard, the AASU and AJYCP's role in helping the indigenous population in acquiring the necessary documents is very poor. The AASU in particular being the biggest organization of the State having massive grassroots-level cadres has failed miserably in coming to aid the sons and daughters of the soil. A door-to-door campaign in educating and helping the needy was not carried out. On the other hand, during the anti-CAA movement, AASU cadres did a door-to-door campaign to raise awareness about the CAB and the CAA. Merely organizing press meets from the headquarters and resorting to waving black flags, roadblock, dharnas, calling bandhs will do no good to the local population.

Nagaon & Cachar Paper Mills
It is indeed, heart-wrenching news for us to know that both the paper mills are put on sale. The auction process has already begun to this effect. When we talk of the Nagaon paper mill, it takes me back to the early days of 1980. I was an integral part of the Engineers India Ltd (EIL) team involved in building 300 MT/day paper in the most difficult days of Assam Agitation. Our other team was working on the Cachar project as well. Around 98 % workforce of EIL was from outside Assam. We know how our team toiled hard to build the two projects in Assam. Of course, the team in Cachar did not have a problem. There was a time when the project works came to a grinding halt for 23 days at a stretch, apart from frequent bandhs and strikes.
One fine morning (in 1982/83), the EIL top management realized that there was no point in continuing at Nagaon paper project when jobs were not progressing as per schedule. As such the EIL decided to wind up from Nagaon. Transfer orders were also issued to its employees. Knowing the fact, N.D. Tiwari, the then Heavy Industry Minister intervened in the matter and requested the EIL to continue since he knew well that without the EIL the project could not be completed. After that N.D. Twari came to Jagiroad to have a review meeting with us. Living members of our EIL felt dejected and expressed anguish on the actions to sell the plant and machinery at auction. Today, our hearts weep in silence at the sad demise of Nagaon and Cachar paper mills.

Tip of the iceberg
The ongoing war against drug mafias has thrown light on the involvement of people from various quarters. This may be just the tip of the iceberg. A journalist was also recently arrested for his involvement in the racket. The drug business is a huge profit-making business so naturally many people from the elite section of society might be involved. I hope the police department won't relent against the drive. The arrest of DSP Jatin Chandra Das is a welcome step and now the police department should focus on the route of the narcotics trade. Generally, the border areas of Assam-Nagaland, Assam-Manipur, Assam-Mizoram, and riverine areas of the Indo-Bangladesh border are the routes that act as carriers of the drug consignments into the State. Through the checking of minority-dominated areas should be carried out as it has been revealed in the operation that the majority of the arrested people are from that group. Even if names of the big fishes do come out, the operation shouldn't be discontinued or shown any laxity. I sincerely hope that the present government would uproot the entire mechanism of the drug rings from the state.

HSLC and HS exams
After CBSE examinations were called off owing to the COVID-19 situation, the State Boards are yet to decide on their respective course of action.
As a parent, I would like to put forth my thoughts on the same. It is a known fact that HS examinations are a deciding factor for the science stream students as most of them opt for careers in medical, engineering etc.
The examinations can be made optional. Only those students who want to take the examinations can appear. The rest may be passed out depending on their past performances and the criteria laid down by the examination department.
English and Alternative English or Assamese examinations can perhaps be omitted. The students have toiled and got out from this situation of yes or no will give them a morale boost.

Self-goal by Juhi Chawla
Bollywood actress of yesteryears Juhi Chawla's lawsuit against the implementation of 5G technology in India was rejected by the Delhi High Court terming it as a publicity stunt by the actress. While many developed countries like the USA have already implemented 5G technology without any ill effects on the health of the citizens or the environment, Juhi Chawla claimed that 5G technology has adverse effects on the health of the people causing disease like cancer, Diabetes mellitus, High BP, impotency, etc. But till today nothing has been proved by the scientists. It is to be noted that after the Chinese 5G company Huawei offer was rejected by the Central government many are finding it difficult to digest the fact. Suddenly, many Bollywood artistes like Juhi Chawla are showing concerns about 5G technology.
Juhi Chawla is also the brand ambassador of Kurkure potato chips. In the advertisement she promotes Kurkure. Does she consider potato chips like Kurkure healthy for people? Sadly thousands of Chinese supporters are working tirelessly in India to defame the nation.

Matter of concern
In the beginning, I condemn the cowardly attack on Seuj Senapati at Udali COVID Care Centre in Hojai district. I laud the work of the police force in nabbing the culprits within the hours of the crime. Why the same breed of people is always on news for all the crime-related activities – starting from cow smuggling, narcotics trade, dacoity, looting of idols from religious places, rape, and many more. First, the culture of such immigrant gaggles doesn't match with ours, and second, they are all working on a specific design. The biggest asset of this breed called is their profound loyalty to Congress. In a recent statement, Bharat Narah tried to project that these people came to the land of Assam before the Ahoms.
The future of Assam is at stake. Abnormal population explosion by this breed will certainly outnumber the indigenous people.
