Murder of Rituparna

The killing of a youth, Rituparna Pegu, at Noonmati in Guwahati is a tragic incident. The whole incident was captured by the CC TV camera installed in the shop. The incident occurred in front of the owner of the shop. Noonmati police arrested the culprits involved in the incident within a day. This is the second such case after the one at Hajo where a vegetable vendor, Sanatan Deka, was allegedly beaten to death on the road on May 24, 2020. In both the incidents the alleged murderers were from a particular community. Both the cases should be taken up in fast-track courts so as to ensure exemplary punishment to the guilty. The government, if possible, should extend some help to the bereaved families. The police should be extra vigilant and see that such incidents do not recur in future.
