Tough penalties for traffic violations have been put in place. This step has been taken as deterrence. The government must provide enough facilities, good governance, and commitment to achieve this objective. Poor condition of roads during monsoon, absence of CCTV cameras, corruption in the traffic police, poor infrastructure, and lack of awareness must come up for consideration. The focus should also be on improved road connectivity and systematic parking. Road contracts are marred by poor quality of materials. Before hitting the public with huge and exemplary fines, accountability of the government should also be fixed.
