Guwahati: Amid the surge of COVID cases in India, the opening of cinema is still a distant dream. Luckily, streaming platforms are bringing a number of new movies and TV series every week, so our not-so-productive days don't become monotonous. Here are the 7 shows and movies that are streamed on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, ZEE5, and SonyLIV this weekend that we recommend you should absolutely watch!

1. Dark - Netflix

The third and final season of the German web series Dark, a sci-fi time travel epic, on Netflix has become a cult across the world. The entire story has been narrated in a loop, which means the beginning is the end and the end is the beginning. Ever twist is new and unthinkable in the show. It was released on June 27, Saturday.

2. BHONSLE - SONYLIV

Manoj Bajpayee's Bhonsle shows a terminally-ill Maharashtrian cop who tries to protect a migrant girl and her brother from a local politician.

The movie analyses the time period when political pressures in Maharashtra was forcing migrant labourers to move out of the state. It also features Hathoda Tyagi aka Abhishek Banerjee of Paatal Lok fame.

3. MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN - DISNEY+ HOTSTAR

Motherless Brooklyn is an American neo-noir crime film which is written, produced and directed by Edward Norton, who also stars in the film. Also starring in the movie are Bruce Willis and Alec Baldwin. Based on the novel of the same name by Jonathan Lethem, the story narrates the life of a private detective with Tourette Syndrome, who is hunting for the person responsible for the murder of his mentor. He has a strong and photographic memory that makes him the ideal detective. Norton had been engaged on this project since 1999 and this movie was in production for 20 years, before it was released last year in August.

4. RASBHARI - AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

TV Star Swara Bhaskar's Rasbhari is set in Meerut and revolves around Nand Kishore a teenager, who is infatuated by a local English teacher, Shanu (Swara). But, Shanu is supposedly possessed by the sex-obsessed spirit of Rasbhari.

It was released on June 25, Thursday.

5. UNLOCK - ZEE5

Unlock Zee5 original film is about the dark web and happens to be a murder mystery.

This thriller-horror movie revolves around the life of four characters, out of which are involved in a love triangle. Popular TV actress Hina Khan plays the role of Suhani, who is an obsessive, edgy character who installs a diabolical app that will help her win over the love of her life. Her obsessions and unpredictable nature is what will keep all of you on the edge of your seats.

6. RAMAYANA – DISNEY+ HOTSTAR

Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana was originally aired in 1988. This iconic television series was probably the first one to be aired in Indian Telivision. Recently when it re-aired in the lockdown, audiences across the country were hooked. Ramayan is based on the ancient Hindu epic Ramayana which is about the journey of Rama who goes into exile of 14 years along with Sita and Lakshman. However, if you missed watching it on television this time around as well, you can now stream it on Disney+ Hotstar.

7. KADAKH – SONYLIV

This web series features Ranvir Shorey, Kalki Koechlin, Cyrus Sahukar, and many more talented actors. This movie follows the genre of Dark comedy.

The plotline follows a day in the life of a couple, Sunil and Malti, who's hosting a Diwali party when an unwanted guest arrives on their doorstep. The husband of the woman Sunil is having an affair with.
