GUWAHATI: Aimee Baruah, a well-known actress from Assam, has been chosen to serve on the prestigious 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) core committee. The committee is made up of respected members of the film industry and government officials, and it is well renowned for its crucial role in defining the event.

Led by the Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports as the Chairman, and the Chief Minister of Goa & Chairman of ESG as the Co-chairman, the Steering Committee for the 54th IFFI includes official members from various government departments and organizations associated with the film industry.

Joining the ranks of the committee alongside Aimee Baruah are renowned personalities such as acclaimed filmmaker Shoojit Sarkar, known for his work on 'The Kerala Story,' and the controversial screenwriter of 'Adipurush,' Manoj Muntashir. Additionally, BJP leader and actress Khushboo Sunder, along with numerous other distinguished figures from the Indian film fraternity, lend their expertise to the committee.

The International Film Festival of India's steering committee is a key component of its planning and management. In addition to choosing the Country of Focus, selecting the opening and closing films, inviting international film stars, choosing the principal guest for the opening and closing ceremonies, and establishing the various sections of the festival, their duties also include overseeing the festival's overall organisation, monitoring its progress, and reviewing its overall performance.
