Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt, who is currently filming his upcoming horror drama Ghost, has come out in support of director Rajkumar Hirani. Earlier, Hirani was accused by a female crew member from the sets of Sanju for molesting her over six months. Vikram Bhatt put up a long piece sharing his opinion on the same. The filmmaker showed his concern towards how social media has already started its trial despite Hirani not being proven guilty yet. “In a #MeToo situation you are required to fully support and under no circumstances disregard the lady in question for whatever she is saying. I agree. We must take on board what she is saying and make sure that justice prevails. And yet, let us not forget that everyone is innocent until he or she is proven guilty,” his Facebook post read. He further added, “I cannot understand what is the hurry to put Mr. Hirani in the Shame Slammer? Can we not wait for justice to prevail?”

Adding his own perspective, Vikram also said that there are possibilities of a lot of things that could have gone wrong. Giving the entire situation another dimension, Bhatt reiterated, “...is it not possible that a lady has some score to settle with a man? Is it not possible that the lady is under the influence of some other? Is it not possible that it could be a relationship that went south?”

He also added how an accused who is innocent can be affected by the allegations throughout his life. Shedding light on it, he wrote, “The trauma that a woman can go through in a molestation scenario is terrible. She can be scared for life, but this is also true for an accused. His entire life, his work, his achievements, his relationships, his social standing can come to naught by a single accusation that still remains to be substantiated.

This kind of thing does not go away and follows you till you are dead.”

“I shall await the truth and till the committees in question do not tell us one way or the other, I choose to respect the lady in question but I also choose to respect Raju Hirani for the man I know he is, I choose to respect his body of work and I choose to respect him for where he has gotten in life. An accusation will not make him a molester in my eyes, the findings of the justice system might,” he concluded. (IANS)
