Annatthe Movie Review: A Disappointing Film, The Family Drama Lacks Entertainment

Annatthe is an action drama movie written and directed by Siruthai Siva has been released this Diwali on 4 November. As the name suggests the story of the movie revolves around the relationship between a brother and his sister. The IMDb rating of the film Annatthe is 4.6/10.

Superstar Rajinikanth in the movie plays the role of Kaalaiyan who is a loving and protective brother called Kaali. The story begins with Kaalaiyan encountering some goons running after him as he is new in Kolkatta city. Then the film takes the audience to the flashback scenes of the village named Soorakottai in Tamil Nadu where Kaalaiyan used to live peacefully with dignity. He is loved and adored by villagers as he is the president in the village panchayat who takes rights decisions and works for the well-being of the villagers.

Kalaiyaan lived happily with his sister Thanga Meenatchi played by Keerthy Suresh who had returned to the village from Kolkatta after completing her studies. Kalaiyaan wanted his sister to get married therefore he started a search for a groom. He fixes her marriage with a small town goon who is like his brother but gets shocked when he learnt the truth that his sister secretly runs away with her lover and moved to Kolkata.

Thanga runs away with Manoj Palekar played the role by Abhimanyu Singh is a cruel businessman and a brother of notorious dons Udhav Palekar played by Jagapathi Babu. Thanga started facing problems as their happiness doesn't last long. Knowing about the trouble faced by his sister in Kolkatta Kali went to the city to save his sister from these bad people.

The movie shows everything including action scenes, emotions, dances, and everything that people expect from Rajnikanth movies but the audience loses interest as the movie becomes less engaging. Though Annetthe had the earnest attempt of superstar Rajinikanth, it is highly disappointing for fans. Actress Nayanthara appears in the female lead role in the movie pairing with Kalaiyaan. Other cast of the movie includes Vela Ramamoorthy, Khushbu, Soori, Meena, and Prakash Raj as antagonists.
