Guwahati: Shah Rukh Khan's production house Red Chillies Entertainment has shared the first look of their upcoming film, Class of 83. Three film stills shared on Red Chillies Entertainment's official Instagram page show Bobby Deol as an IPS officer.
He dons a moustache in the first look. Bobby Deol too shared the still on his social media accounts. The film revolves around an upright policeman Kabir, played by Deol, whose students deal with the intricacies of honour, ethics and devotion towards their nation. The film also stars Annup Sonii, Bhupendra Jadawat, Ninad Mahajani, Hitesh Bhojraj and Sameer Paranjape. It is directed by Atul Sabharwal and is based on Hussain Zaidi's book with the same name.
In a conversation about the film during an interview last year, Bobby had told PTI, "I have been in the industry for a long time and I have known Shah Rukh for years. He is a great guy and I am happy he is producing the project. He himself is very dedicated to his work and being part of his production is amazing as he makes sure no stone is left unturned to make a good project."
Shah Rukh had told Economic Times in an interview in 2018, "It gives an opportunity to a lot of youngsters who didn't know where to take their small films. So, my deal with Netflix CEO Reed Hastings and chief content officer Ted Sarandos is not just on paper. I'll try and make stuff for you for which I can't find a theatre and I am non-self-obsessed to know that certain films don't need to be in the theatre. Theatres will also change. It will perhaps be more like Broadway where movies will play for six months."
Class of 83 is among the 8 upcoming Netflix releases, including Anurag Basu's Ludo, Mira Nair's A Suitable Boy, Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer Raat Akeli Hai, Alankrita Shrivastava's Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, and Vikrant Massey's Ginny Weds Sunny, Sanjay Dutt's Torbaaz and an animated feature directed by Gitanjali Rao called Bombay Rose. Class of 83 becomes the third production of Red Chillies Entertainment to release on Netflix, after Bard of Blood and Betaal.
