The legendary Disco King Bappi Lahiri known internationally died at the age of 69 on Tuesday 15 February due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

Bappi Lahiri known fondly as Bappi Da was among the very few Indian song composers who are known for their performance in foreign countries by working with international stars.

He was the favourite of several well-known artists and film franchises from the countries aboard. Bappi Da had worked in association with some of the most acclaimed global music icons like American popular singers Akon and Lady Gaga.

The singer once posted a picture with pop star Akon on his Instagram profile writing the caption as recording time.

In 2019, Bappi Da had disclosed that he had recorded two songs with Lady Gaga which were duets. In the songs, Bappi sang in Hindi and Lady Gaga joined the track singing in English.

Most notably, the rights of Bappi Da's music were purchased by the grand budget film franchise such as Marvel's science fiction Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Indian singer has also composed music for Disney animated hit film Moana through which he entered into Hollywood.

Many of the tracks by Bappi Da was rearranged for Hollywood music like 'You Don't Mess With The Zohan' by Adam Sandler in 2008 which used the rearranged version of the track 'Jimmy Jimmy' by Bappi in the 1982 film Disco Dancer starring Mithun Chakroborty.

M.I.A who is a British Sri-Lankan also used the song 'Jimmy Jimmy' in her album Kala in 2007.

Another song by the iconic artist titled Come Closer from the Hindi cinema 'Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki' has made it to the music of 2016 film 'Lion' starring Dev Patel and Nicole Kadam.

Bappi Da is widely known across Indian and worldwide for popularizing disco music in India during the period of the 80s and 90s. He took his last breath at Criticare Hospital in Mumbai on night hours on Tuesday after being diagnosed with several health issues.
