Bollywood Actress Jacqueline Fernandez Applies For Foreign Travel Permission

NEW DELHI: Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez has filed an application with Delhi's Patiala House Court, seeking foreign travel permission in order to travel to Bahrain from December 23.

On its part, the court instructed the Enforcement Dirctorate (ED) to submit its response to the request, and listing the hearing of the application for December 22, 2022.

Jacqueline Fernandez is of Sri Lankan origin and she has acted in several Bollywood films, after a long stint in modeling.

Jacqueline had appeared at Patiala House Court on Tuesday in connection with a money laundering case involving the conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. The actress is currently being investigated by the ED in connection with the Rs 200 crore extortion case, in which several people were cheated.

ED named Jacqueline as an accused on August 17, 2022, when the department filed a supplementary chargesheet in a Delhi court in connection with the Rs 200 crore money laundering case. In the chargesheet, the actress has been accused of willingly accepting the gifts given by Sukesh from the proceeds of his con activities, as well as sharing them with her family members living in Sri Lanka.

With her involvement in the forgery being brought to the fore, ED sought to restrain the actress from travelling outside India. It is also her obligation to cooperate in the ongoing investigation in the money-laundering case of the ED as and when required.

Sukesh Chandrashekhar, the conman, is accused of cheating several noted individuals. The ED is currently involved in the probe of the matter regarding Sukesh and his actor wife Leena Maria Paul. Jacqueline is also said to have had a romantic relationship with Sukesh and she has admitted to receiving the gifts given to her 'as a mere token of love' and not as proceeds of the fraud.

In recent times, a defamation lawsuit was filed by Nora Fatehi against Jacqueline Fernandez in connection with the extortion case involving Sukesh Chandrashekhar. The actress has also accused Jacqueline and several media houses for bringing tarnish to her reputation and affecting her prospects of work in the industry.
