Gehraiyaan Review – Reasons To Invest Two And A Half Hour In Movie

Gehraiyaan directed by Shakun Batra starring Deepika Padukone and Siddhnat Chaturvedi in leads gives a portrayal of an intense love story filled with full of adventures but a meaningless narrative.

Apart from Deepika and Siddhnat the film cast includes Naseeruddin Shah, Ananya Panday, Rajat Kapoor and Dhairya Karwa. The film is made available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Gehraiyaan takes the audience into a romantic relationship where crashing ocean waves signify the passion of two youth who unintentionally moves away from their already selected partners.

The story depicts a deep concept of youthful love where people usually hide the actual truth and express it falsely but something that the film lacks is humour.

The Amazon original film begins with a kind of relationship that is spoiled by forbidden love but later it turns into an unrealistic drama. The two couples pretend to be the ones that they are not and keep lying so that the truth continues to be a secret.

Deepika appears as Alisha who is a Yoga Instructor sharing the bond of love with Karan played by Dhairya for long 6 years. Zain played by Siddhant is sharing 3 years of relationship with Tia played by Ananya Pandey.

Alisha, Tia and Karan are known to each other since their childhood. The outsider Zain is the one who helps the cousins Tia and Alisha reunite after a long time on a yacht and the entry of Zain creates problems between Alisha and Karan.

Zain and Alisha get closure and share an intimate relationship as they decide to continue going with the flow without realizing the truth.

All the three characters of Alisha, Zain and Tia are portrayed as youths who had faced issues like domestic violence during their childhood as their mother and father showed abusive nature. Naseeruddin Shah in the film appears playing the role of a husband who betrayed and left his wife and daughter.

But the reason to invest two and a half hours in the film Gehraiyaan is Deepika Padukone who stands out in between the humourless narrative.
