New Delhi: Actress Jacqueline Fernandez, who is of Sri Lankan nationality, has recently expressed her thoughts regarding the ongoing economic crisis and unrest in her home country.
The actress took to her Instagram on Monday to extend support for her homeland and appealed for help amid the political and economic crisis in Sri Lanka.
The economy of Sri Lanka has been severely affected since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic leading to the shortage of foreign exchange and hampering the island's ability in importing fuel and food.
The country has been facing an extreme shortage of essential goods along with frequent power cuts and the government has even started to ask for help from countries having friendly relations.
Jacqueline in her recent Instagram post wrote a heartfelt note in support of her country along with a picture showing unity as 'Sri Lanka Together.'
The note, written by her showed that she is heartbroken by the current situation of unrest prevailing in her country since the last few weeks making the citizens struggle.
In the note, Jacqueline defended her nation showing her sympathy for the countrymen, and said she was flooded with numerous opinions since the time everything started.
She asked people not to be judgmental and vilify any group based on whatever is shown as the people of her nation do not need judgment but support and empathy are what they need at this time.
At the end of her note, Jacqueline prays for the strength and well-being of her people hoping that soon the situation comes to an end, and finally wrote 'United we stand and divided we fall' in the Sinhala language.
It may be mentioned that Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Sri Lanka and completed her education in her own country. She has also appeared in many Sri Lankan television shows and represented Sri Lanka at the World Miss Universe in 2006.
