Legendary Singer-Composer Bappi Lahiri Passes Away At 69

Indian popular singer-composer Bappi Lahiri known for popularizing disco music in India during the 80s and 90s died on Tuesday 15 February.

The legendary singer took his last breath at CritiCare Hospital in Juhu of Mumbai. Bappi Lahiri passes away at the age of 69.

According to reports, the singer was earlier hospitalized for a month and after 1 month of treatment, he got discharged on Monday 14 February.

On Tuesday 15 February, his health condition got worsened and the family members called for a doctor at their home for immediate medical assistance.

He was later taken to the hospital on the same day and just before midnight, the singer passed away as informed by the director of CritiCare Hospital, Dr. Deepak Namjoshi.

As per information from the concerned doctor, Bappi Lahiri had numerous health problems and died due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) which momentarily cut off the breathing of a person as the airway is closed.

Earlier the singer was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital of Mumbai on April 2021 after he was found infected with the COVID-19 on conducting a covid test. He was in isolation and recovered after a few days.

The last rites of the singer will be organized on Thursday 17 February as the family members are waiting for the son of a singer named Bappa-Lahiri to return from Los Angeles, United States.

Bappi Lahiri known originally as Iokesh Lahiri has made a huge contribution to Bollywood with his all-time popular songs. Some of his most loved songs are 'Disco Dancer', 'Sharabi' and 'Chalte Chalte.'

Apart from being a singer and composer, Bappi Lahiri also had a career as a record producer and politician. He is widely known as a singer who popularized the use of synthesized disco music in the world of Indian cinema.

The singer was last seen along with Salman Khan in the Colors TV reality show Big Boss Season 15. Bappi Lahiri came to the show to promote the recent song 'Baccha Party' by his grandson Swastik.
