Vivek Agnihotri: 'Kashmir Files' Nominated For 2023 Oscars

MUMBAI: The Kashmir Files, a Bollywood film, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Oscars film festival in 2023, according to director Vivek Agnihotri.

The Kashmir Files, a film by Vivek Agnihotri, is about the widespread migration of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990 as a result of Pakistan-backed militants' systematic murders of members of the community. In March of last year, the movie opened in theatres.

"#PallaviJoshi #MithunChakraborty @DarshanKumaar @AnupamPKher are all shortlisted for best actor categories. It's just the beginning. A long long road ahead. Pl bless them all," added Agnihotri.

The film, which featured Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, and others, was heavily criticised and caused a great deal of controversy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had praised the film the previous year, saying that such movies "tell the reality" at a BJP parliamentary party meeting. He added that additional films like this should be produced and alleged that a campaign was being undertaken to trash the movie.

"The talk concerning The Kashmir Files must have been heard by you. Everyone in the organisation who flies the flag of free speech is alarmed "In his speech, PM Modi stated.

"An effort to discredit the movie is currently underway rather than evaluating it based on the facts and the truth. Anyone who seeks to reveal the truth faces opposition from the entire ecology. In an effort to prevent anyone from seeing the reality during the past few days, they have only attempted to project what they wish to be true, "he added.

In addition to receiving tax-free treatment in a number of BJP-ruled states, including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana, the movie attracted a sizable audience across the nation.
