Emuthi Puthi is a comedy-drama that takes the audience on a road trip from Bongaigaon to Majuli while exploring the conflict and adventures of three generations of women from a single family.

Ritika a young girl aged 19 hates her life in a small town under the strict control of her single mother Indira. Aged 43, her mother is also the local cop. Ritika wants to escape and has the will, but is crippled without money. Ironically, Ritika's grandma Makhoni aged 67 also plans to escape and has for long fantasized about it. Makhoni is determined to leave the world on a boat rowed by a mythical angel in a lake hidden from the world. It is said that if one reaches the angel, he will offer a special sweet fish and upon consuming it, angel would row the person into afterlife. An agreement of convenience takes place between the grand-daughter and grandmother. For a princely sum, Ritika will smuggle Makhoni all the way to the mythical angel.

With her newfound money, Ritika plans to finally escape home. The two sneak out of the house at night. Shrewd Ritika had expertly planned the whole escape but alas the best laid plans often go awry. To compound their issues on the road, a very angry Indira is hot on their heels.

As the trip branches off in unexpected directions, both pursued and pursuer meet a bunch of characters and discover new meanings to their own lives. When they finally reach the mystical lake, the angel is waiting for Makhoni. But Ritika loves her grandmother too dearly to let

her go and Indira wants them both to stay back. One of the cardinal conflicts of the plot appear at this stage when Makhoni has a decision to make.

Directed by debutant director Kulanandini Mahanta, the film is produced by Metanormal and Ruhaan Films in association with The Vibe Studio. Emuthi Puthi is written by Bhaskar Hazarika who is well-known for his much-acclaimed previous ventures, Kothanodi and Aamis.

Talking about the film, the director says, "I was fortunate enough to be born in a household of three generations, where parents provided for my basic necessities and grandparents provided warmth and comfort to the soul. A soulful harmony, which at times was disrupted by our own complexities. This film is about three generations of women who are so different at various levels. Yet they have one thing in common- the stubbornness of leading their lives by their own rules. This ultimately drives each one of them away from one another. But love and affection glues them back for the last journey. This film is my humble attempt in understanding and presenting the different folds of these three characters Makhoni, Indira and Ritika. This film is about burning and rebuilding bridges, happy accidents and mysticism, that is apparent in our very lives. I have kept the emotions of the characters up-close and real with focus on the emotional exploration of complex character to drive home the central message of the film - the most important journey in life is the one within!

The movie stars Pratibha Choudhury, Neetali Das, and Srishti Sharma in the leading roles. The supporting cast comprises popular actors such as Kenny Basumatary, Chumki Kachari, Monalisa Bhuyan and Rubul Boro.

Emuthi Puthi, was shot completely on an iPhone in official collaboration with Apple India Inc. The movie is all set to hit the theatres on June 17, 2022. Meanwhile, the trailer has been released on social media platforms like YouTube, Face book and Instagram.
